My Aged Care (MAC) is an Australian Government organisation that helps older Australians access the care they need. It provides different levels of to help pay for most of the aged care services you need. This is also called subsidised or funded aged care.
If you are aged 65 and over, or an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person aged 50 and over, you may be eligible to receive funded aged care services, depending on your needs.
The first step is to contact My Aged Care to for an aged care assessment. They will look at your needs to determine the support you need. Once you have been assessed, you will know which type of funding you’re eligible for.
How to register for My Aged Care
Register for aged care services through My Aged Care. You can do this by calling 1800 200 422 (free call) or visiting myagedcare.gov.au
You can set up an online account when you request an assessment.
What can I spend my aged care package on?
If you are eligible for aged care funding, you can spend it on services and supports you need to live well and stay healthy. There are a range of services you can access depending on your assessed needs.
Services can range from a little help at home for a short period, to ongoing care for complex needs. They can include:
- Clinical support like Nursing Care and Allied Health.
- Independence support like Personal Care and Assistive Technology and Home Modifications.
- Everyday living support like Domestic Assistance and Home Maintenance.
Some costs may apply to your government funded aged care. These are called contributions and depend on the funding you receive and your financial situation.

For private services, patients do not require a referral or assessment and can contact us directly. However, you can contact us on a patient’s behalf by calling 1300 300 122.
