There are several types of funding for in home aged care you can apply for, depending upon your needs.

The Australian Government provides aged care funding for Australians who are aged 65 years and over, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander over 50 years old, or a person who is at risk of, or is experiencing homelessness and is over 50 years old.

To apply for funding, you will need to contact My Aged Care and ask for an assessment. Your assessor will then tell you which type of funding you are eligible to receive.

Here are the different types of home care funding you can receive:

Home care funding

There are two different programs of in home aged funding you can receive, these are the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), and the Support at Home program.

  • Commonwealth Home Support Programme: CHSP is designed for people who need a little support at home. It provides lower level funding for basic home support services like Personal Care and Domestic Assistance.
  • Support at Home: This program commenced on 1 July 2025 and replaces the Australian Government's Home Care Package (HCP) and Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) programs.

Support at Home provides eight levels of ongoing funding to meet low to high care needs. There is also short term support available to meet different needs:

Self funded home care

You can choose to fund your own aged care services for as long as you need. Our private services meet the growing needs of Australians who want to increase the level of care funded by the government, or who are not eligible for funded care.

Health professionals can refer patients for government funded aged care by contacting My Aged Care, or by calling 1800 200 422. You can also make an e-referral from your practice management system.

For private services, patients do not require a referral or assessment and can contact us directly. However, you can contact us on a patient’s behalf by calling 1300 300 122.
