Helping you and your loved ones take a well earned rest.
Respite is a service that gives your carers or family members the chance to take a break to rest and recharge. Our care team provides temporary care for you, so they can take a planned break to relax, attend appointments, or do something they enjoy.
We work with you and your carer to design a care plan for you. This includes spending time with you at home or going on outings in the community, while your carer or family has a break.
Silverchain offers a range of respite support, such as:
- In-home respite: We can spend one on one time with you during the day, doing the things you love. This can include activities like going to football games, your place of worship, shopping, or to a café.
- Social Centre day respite: We provide a range of indoor and outdoor activities for older people at our Social Centres in Western Australia. It is a good chance to socialise with friends.
- Social Support Group outings: We organise outings and transport so you can visit different places in the community together with others, like art and craft sessions, BBQs and light exercise classes.
Flexible respite support
We also offer flexible respite support to match your schedule and meet your short and long term needs.
If your carer has other commitments, is unwell, or has an emergency, our team can help. We can also provide extra support if there’s been an unexpected event.
Longer term respite support can be planned ahead of time throughout the year. This means your carer can spend more time on themselves or go on a much needed holiday.
We can provide respite support on weekdays, evenings, or as an overnight stay. We also make sure you can connect with support networks in your area if you need it.
The amount of respite you can access
The amount of respite support you can receive depends on your needs. This is determined from your aged care assessment. Alternatively, you can choose to self fund as much respite care that you would like.
If you need an aged care assessment, contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or myagedcare.org.au.
